How to Make Vintage Book Frames
Here are some of my favorite past designs from Ribbit-Ribbit. Both are made by decoupaging old papers onto plain wood picture frames, adding a bit of antiquing and distressing, then embellishing.
The style on the left, called Versailles, has an ornate design painted over the book papers using metallic craft paint in a deep aqua shade.
The frame on the right is embellished with a pretty silk ribbon and a crown-shaped brooch with a vintage feel.
I love the re-use of old discarded book papers to create something interesting and beautiful!
You can do this yourself using Mod Podge or watered-down Elmer’s white glue to adhere the papers to a basic wood frame. Mix a tiny dab of gray or brown craft paint with the glue and water to make an antiquing glaze for the top coat.
Then freehand or stencil your own design on top using metallic paint, or use a hot glue gun to attach a bow with a pin inserted into it.
Happy creating!
